recherche, diligent search, from re-, again, and chercher, to
seek.] careful, patient, systematic, diligent inquiry or examination in
some field of knowledge, undertaken to establish facts or principles.
Syn. - investigation, inquiry,
scrutiny, examination.

Lengthy video, and many photographs go into research for a
bronze portrait. In the Secretariat sculpture, that research was
multiplied by three in order to properly capture the horse, groom, and jockey.
